UKWIR Welcomes new Programme and Co Programme Leads

UKWIR would like to introduce our newest team members, Mark Craig (Severn Trent), Nick Mills (Southern Water) and Doug Spencer (Anglian Water). We are delighted that these colleagues have taken up these vital roles for UKWIR and look forward to the positive contribution and guidance they give to our Big Questions programme. Mark, Nick and Doug will contribute to our Programme Steering meetings, bringing their experience as practitioners to this critical role in our overall Programme Management process.

Mark Craig

Severn Trent - New Co-Lead Wastewater BQ

Mark is Severn Trent Water’s Long Term Asset Strategy Lead for wastewater with over 30 years’ experience in the water industry.

Mark is also the Chair of the industry’s Wastewater Network. His main areas of expertise are environmental legislation and wastewater treatment processes and he has a particular speciality in the emerging issues of concern such as microplastics, hazardous chemicals and anti-microbial resistance.

Nick Mills

Southern Water - New Programme Lead Wastewater BQ

Dr Nick Mills is the Head of the Storm Overflow Taskforce at Southern Water.

Nick is an engineer with a strong background in delivering complex and innovative programmes. He was Head of Innovation at Thames Water for four years. He is a chartered engineer with the Institute of Engineering & Technology, has an EngD, and was awarded an industrial fellowship from the Royal Commission of 1851. In his current role he and the team are building and delivering a plan based on partnership approaches to 
significantly reduce the use of storm releases.

Doug Spencer

Anglian Water - New Co-Lead Leakage BQ

Doug is Head of Smart Metering for Anglian Water where he has worked for over 30 years, primarily on water distribution; quality, leakage and water use monitoring and analysis.

Over the last six years he has led the programme to take Anglian from proof of concept to company-wide rollout of AMI.
