Remuneration:   Circa £65k

COMPANY INFORMATION

UK Water Industry Research (UKWIR) was established in 1993 by the UK water industry to facilitate and manage collaborative research on ‘one voice’ issues. UKWIR's members are the 18 water companies in the UK and Ireland.  

We are a team based in a central London office and our objective is to procure, manage and deliver a national programme of research for the UK water companies. Our research is often carried out in collaboration with government departments and the water industry’s regulators. Work is also undertaken in collaboration with research organisations in the UK and internationally.  

WHAT WILL THE ROLE INVOLVE?

The purpose of the role is to develop, manage and deliver a strategic research programme of relevance and value to our members.  This is achieved by working closely with UKWIR’s Programme Leads (subject matter experts in the water companies), and our other Strategic Programme Managers, to jointly develop research projects that will help to answer the Big Questions that the industry faces. https://ukwir.org/big-questions-facing-uk-water-industry 

The role also requires the building of relationships with potential research collaborators and co-funders, managing research related communications and overseeing the effectiveness of project management and delivery of projects in the programme.

The role will be a full-time position, with ample opportunities to develop expertise and competences as the role develops. There is the opportunity to progress to the role of Senior Programme Manager, based on performance, which comprises of an additional level of leadership and responsibility in relation to programme and contract management.


WHAT SKILLS ARE REQUIRED?

Essential     

  • Develop good relationships and work collaboratively with relevant UKWIR Programme Leads and research colleagues in the water industry throughout the British Isles
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Good strategic perspective 
  • High degree of initiative and ability to work independently
  • Experience in project management and delivery
  • Good level of understanding of the water industry, its activities and operations

Desirable

  • Experience in managing and delivering programmes of work
  • Good level of IT skills
  • Contract management experience 
  • Ability to work as part of a small team
