Extending and Updating UKWIR's Source Apportionment Tool
The Source Apportionment GIS (SAGIS) water quality model provides an apportionment of chemical concentrations by source for rivers, lakes, transitional and coastal waters. To date, the SAGIS model has been applied by regulatory authorities, by UKWIR project contractors and by individual water companies for a broad variety of purposes including asset management and infrastructure planning, catchment scale investigations, assessment of impacts on Habitats Directive sites, and for national appraisal of options to achieve compliance with WFD water quality standards.
In order to remain effective, a number of critical updates have been implemented to ensure the model databases reflect the latest information on pollutant inputs from point and diffuse agricultural sources. Other updates include a functionality enhancement that improves the representation of the relationship between diffuse input loads and river flows. A user community forum with a dedicated website has also been established, within which the SAGIS user community may share news and ideas.
This report is available in a set with UKWIR's published reports on Chemical Source Apportionment, available for purchase together at a reduced price of £600.
